Painted last summer on location over a number of three hour sessions on days where the forecast was similar. The tide was always at a different stage which kept it interesting. On one of the days there was a pod of passing dolphins.

A homage to Manet who used the same vase for many of his flower paintings. It has been a really interesting change of subject as a result of lockdown. I might even find how to make it vertical.

"Apple Blossom", oil, 50cm x 45cm

The blossom was from a very old tree in the garden and the knarled branches contrasted well with the fragile blossom. It is one of a continuing series of still lives that I started at the beginning of the lockdown.
