“Everything you can imagine is real.” Picasso
In these paintings from the early 1990's I was trying to touch on the universal themes of birth, death, the possibility of an afterlife, and the purpose of our voyage through the mysterious waters of this life.
They were inspired by mythology; poetry; dreams; spiritualism and other religious and philosophic traditions, and some of the events in my own life in those years.
I was attempting to find some meaning in the seeming chaos of contemporary life, but also to celebrate its mysterious and nurturing flow.
