Painting in a sea fret isn't usually seen as ideal, but I loved the soft greys of the sky and sea contrasting with the bright colours of the boats. It is best to take whatever is there and let the subject suprise you. Strong wind or rain usually stop play, but I often tie a weight to the easel and have painted until rain stops the oil paint going on anymore. Turner supposedly tied himself to the mast of a ship in a storm to continue working, I haven't tried that yet. The castle of Holy Island is on the horizon.
